1926 - 1987

Lev Alexandrovich Rusov was born in St. Petersburg, Russia on January 31,1926. He graduated from the Tavricheskaya Street Art School in 1947. He was accepted into the prestigious Repin Institute in St. Petersburg, studying there from 1948 to 1954. He began to officially exhibit his work in the same year and, in 1955, was accepted into the Leningrad Artists′ Union.

Rusov was an accomplished graphic designer, illustrator  and painter, often working in oil or watercolor. He even was skilled at wood carving. Rusov was well known for illustrating books and for his dynamic, strong-lined figurative paintings.

He is listed on page 265 of Matthew Bown's, A Dictionary of Twentieth Century Russian and Soviet Painters.
