1924 - 1992

Vladimir Filaretovich Nesterov was born in 1924 near Saratov, Russia.

His formal art education was interrupted by World War II, but he did finally graduate from the prestigious Repin Institute in St. Petersburg in 1946.

Known throughout his career as a master of drawing, Nesterov served on the Repin Institute′s graphic arts faculty for a number of years. The majority of his career, however, was spent as a teacher at the Tavricheskoye Art College. This art school now bears the name of the great Russian painter, Serov.

Nesterov died in 1992 while he was still teaching at the Serov School.
