Glaudan was born into the family of a hairdresser in 1915.
He graduated from the Latvian Academy of Arts from the studio of landscape painter, V. Purvītis. His diploma work, “Thaw,” was completed in 1944.
He began exhibiting in 1943 while still at the Academy.
His first personal exhibition was in Riga in 1944.
He had an important personal retrospective exhibition in Kazan in 1964.
He was given two posthumous shows in Kraslava in 1970 and 1985 and in Dagda in 1986.
Glaudan was a member of the Latvian Union of Artists from 1946.
The diverse artist worked in almost every genre, mainly in oils and watercolors. He was a great master of psychological portraits in the 1950’s often portraying Latvian personalities and foreign cultural workers. Likewise, he was well-known for intimate landscapes and genre scenes of Latvian life.
He is listed on page 98 of Matthew Bown’s, A Dictionary of Twentieth Century and Russian Painters.
