Aleksei Kamenev
Aleksei Kamenev was born in Penza, Russia in 1976. He graduated from the Penza Art School in 1999. While at the Penza Art School, Kemenev studied in the studio of professor Borisov. The talented young artist has participated in the following exhibitions: 1998 - solo exhibition, "Fresh Wind", Penza. 1998 - 100th Anniversary Exhibition of the Penza Art School 2000 - Central Artists’ House exhibitions, "Russian Motifs", Moscow. 2001 - group exhibition of artists/members of Solnechnyi Krug, "Summer Meeting", Central Artists’ House, Moscow. 2010 – ?The Russian Return? group exhibition, Charlotte, North Carolina Kamenev’s landscapes and genre paintings employ a bright palette, with paints thickly applied in broad, confident brushstrokes, reminiscent of the working class impressionism of the Soviet period. Kamenev lives and works in Russia today and travels often. His wife, Dzhemma Mkheyan, is also a painter.
