In 1946, Koryakin entered the Kiev Art College where he studied until 1951. He then returned to Dnepropetrovsk in 1952 and began exhibiting. In 1962, he became a member of Ukrainian Union of Artists.
He was well known for portraits and figurative work often of workers. He spent his career in Dnepropetrovsk where he became well-known for painting local life. Koryakin was an acclaimed graphic artist and painter.
He is listed on page 159 of Matthew Bown’s, A Dictionary of Twentieth Century Russian and Soviet Painters.
