She was born in Yankovka Village near Kharkov, Ukraine in 1913. She studied at the Kiev Art Institute until 1940.
She became a member of the Kiev Artists' Union after her graduation and started to exhibit around 1944.
Usikova was primarily a socialist realist throughout her career often painting large genre scenes depicting peasant life in the country.
Her works are in the permanent collection of both the Kiev Art Museum and the Kharkov Art Museum.
She is listed on page 331 of Matthew Bown's, A Dictionary of Twentieth Century Russian and Soviet Painters.
